Overview

Naji Alali (Palestine,1999)

He was born the name of a political cartoonist, and he creates his legacy through every piece he creates.

Naji is a Palestinian self-taught illustrator, painter, animator, muralist, sculptor, and filmmaker, building a brand called Lemonback through different mediums and visuals. Lemonback is an abstract reflection of the world. He attempts to spread a message that indirectly tackles political and social issues in every body of work, using symbolism and representations he gathered from his roots and travel experiences.

Alali thoughtfully conceives of new worlds and employs symbolism imbued by his sense of belonging, identity, and faith. Akin to the wind's guidance of birds as they fly, he lives and works navigated by an intuitive and spiritual source, expressing it as the "Universe telling me how to maneuver.

Alali creatively connects to his Islamic-based spirituality and more significant purpose; meticulously tuned to the minute elements of each composition, Naji Aali aims to create space for each viewer to dive deeper into their worlds by working in a manner of simplicity that stokes thought and distinct resonance.
