As Mahmoud Darwish said: "Killed or wounded, use the ammunition within you, strike your enemy. You are now free. Besiege the siege, there is no escape."
The wheelchair represents martyr Ibrahim Abu Thurayya, who was killed raising the Palestinian flag. Aaed stands with his bare body, uniting what the occupation tried to divide. The crown of thorns links the Mother of Christ with the Palestinian people; both suffer for freedom and justice. It is a scene that symbolizes the Palestinian struggle, inspired by Eugène Delacroix's painting Liberty Leading the People.
