Rani Sharabati PALESTINIAN, b. 1998

Overview

Rani Sharabati (Palestinian, b. 1998) A contemporary artist whose work traverses the space between the surreal and the lived experiences of the Palestinian citizens since the Nakba that reshaped the Palestinian landscape and collective consciousness. Sharabati’s art became a reflection of the challenges of the entrenched narratives and stereotypes that challenges his society to confront the multiple layers of identity-related complexities.

Rani Sharabati aims to shed light on neglected subjects, bringing them into greater awareness and action. He drenched himself in pressing societal and personal struggles that many fear addressing, shedding light on the unseen and unheard.

The alchemical process transforms subliminal experiences into surreal hallucinations, framing completely different perspectives that intersect with the conventional realities of Palestine today through unconventional lenses.

He is known for his analysis and reconstruction from a very early age, opposite to the widespread belief of conventional beauty. His relationship with rebuilding his surroundings began early; as he walked through Palestine landscapes, they absorbed all their senses and transformed them into visual narratives replicating his insights, dreams, and reality through his lens. For him, art is a space of freedom; a continuous experiment in thought and imagination. It serves as a testament to resilience and an invitation to the public to participate in the conversation, encouraging them to reconsider their views and engage with the realities of a changing Palestine.
