Bahram Hajou GERMAN, b. 1952

Overview

Bahram Hajou (b. 1952, Syria) is a Syrian-born German artist whose work explores the human condition through deeply symbolic figurative paintings.

According to the artist, he's painting reflects demons from within, wherein the vision could be truly psychological, however raw and uncomfortable this may be. He visualizes himself as an image storyteller of the human disappearance and inflexibility, as well as interconnectedness, which will make it possible to invite emotion rather than intellect to be involved in the artwork.

Over the years, Hajou's art has focused on one subject: the human’s aloneness. His figures often hang in a liminal space of vulnerability-balanced between ruin and resilience. But while his paintings convey the weight of emotion, he also manages to include glimpses of softness in moments where color and gesture open to connection, forgiveness, or quiet understanding.
